What You Should Know
Nevisense is the only FDA-cleared device that uses electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to help dermatologists evaluate suspicious moles. It measures the electrical properties of skin cells — cancer cells have measurably different properties than healthy cells.
When combined with Dr. Khanna's clinical expertise and dermoscopy, Nevisense improves the detection of melanoma at its earliest, most treatable stage.
How It Works
A small probe is gently pressed against the mole for a few seconds. The device sends a tiny, painless current through the tissue and measures the response. The result is a score from 0–10 — scores of 4 or higher indicate a need for biopsy.
Studies show Nevisense has a sensitivity of 97% for detecting melanoma — meaning it misses very few true melanomas. Available at all TKMD locations.
How It Works
Dr. Khanna first evaluates the mole visually and with dermoscopy.

A score of 0–10 is generated. Scores of 4+ indicate biopsy is recommended regardless of visual appearance.
Who Is This Right For?
Nevisense is particularly useful for moles that are difficult to evaluate visually — atypical-looking moles that may or may not be melanoma, and for patients with many moles or a history of melanoma. It is not appropriate for every mole, and Dr. Khanna uses clinical judgment to determine when the technology adds value.
