What You Should Know

A full body skin exam is a comprehensive examination of your skin from scalp to toes, performed by Dr. Khanna using dermoscopy. It typically takes 20–30 minutes and is the most reliable way to detect skin cancer before it becomes difficult to treat.

In Florida, where UV exposure is intense year-round, an annual full body exam is recommended for all adults — not just those with risk factors.

What We Look For

  • Melanoma and atypical moles
  • Basal cell carcinoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Actinic keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions)
  • Changes in existing moles or spots

How It Works

Medical history review

Dr. Khanna reviews your personal and family history of skin cancer, sun exposure habits, and any specific concerns you have.

Head-to-toe examination

Using dermoscopy, every area of skin is evaluated — including areas you cannot see yourself (scalp, back, between toes).

Documentation of findings

Any moles or lesions of interest are documented with notes or photos for comparison at future visits.

Biopsy or treatment (if needed)

If a suspicious lesion is found, a biopsy can be performed the same day in most cases.

Personalized follow-up plan

Based on your findings and risk factors, Dr. Khanna recommends how frequently you should return for skin checks.

Who Is This Right For?

Everyone should have an annual full body skin exam — especially if you live in Florida, have fair skin, a history of sunburns, many moles, a family history of skin cancer, or are over 50. New patients are welcome at all five TKMD locations.

About Full Body Skin Exam

"About one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. In Florida, the odds are higher. An annual skin check takes less time than most TV shows. It is the most valuable 20 minutes you can spend."
